Terrific Tuesday, 4/20

Happy Tuesday, Everyone!

We're having a fun and busy week in second grade! Our first round of MAP testing is complete; we will take the second part next week. Next week's MAP test is math.

We began our author study on Eric Carle this week. Each day in guided reading we will read to learn about Eric Carle and then study one of his books. We are using Eric Carle's books to help strengthen the comprehension strategy of visualization. We have learned many interesting things about Eric Carle already! We studied The Very Hungry Caterpillar on Monday and today we studied The Very Clumsy Click Beetle. We are working on making an Eric Carle author study book! Our book will contain activities from our guided reading exercises, as well as pieces of writing about Eric Carle and his books. Kids - I specifically chose to study Eric Carle this week. Do you remember why??? Tell your parents!

We began our Chapter 9 study of measurement on Monday. We are learning about both nonstandard and standard units of measure. We even measured the length of our classroom in second graders! Our Fraction Museum has been replaced by our Measures All Around Museum. The kids have brought in some great examples of measurement in everyday life!

We continue to study different varieties of contractions! Tomorrow we will make charts to help us remember the different categories of contractions. Aren't you excited? You're going to do a great job! It's going to be fun! (Get it??? :))

Last week 5 students received a special prize for being the first 5 students to correctly answer the questions on my blog. Who will get the prizes this time? Please comment on this blog entry with your name with your responses to the questions. Please make sure your answers are in complete sentences. Good Luck!

Have a great week!

  9. Hi Friends,

Great job posting! To the class: even if you haven't posted yet, be sure to give it a try! Remember, the prizes go to the first 5 people who CORRECTLY answer all the questions. Even though 6 people have already posted, there are not yet 5 people with all the answers correct.

For friends who have posted - be sure to check your answers to make sure you got them all right. And, remember to always do your own work. Even though your answers may be similar, they should be your own thoughts and writing.

    Good Luck Everyone!
